Oh boy. This is a bit awkward, we know. Being offline for almost a week. We ‘re sorry. Really. We’re sorry we’ve been away so long, but we had a covert operation in the Maldives to deal with. We do that kind of stuff on consultancy basis, like black ops shit. Can’t say too much about it, but you might have read about it in the papers. Yeah, that’s right, we did that. So watch it, Newt Gingrich. We capped heads of state for less than ignoring the Supreme Court, a’ight?

We're not sure what dead animal is lying on that plate, but Rick doesn't care as long as it votes for him. It could be very poorly baked pancakes as well. Hell.
Anyway, back to the Ustated Nites people! And what a race it turns out to be. First we thought Romney had bagged it, then Gingrich begged to differ, and now all of a sudden we have Rick Santorum doing an LL Cool J. Last night, Crazy Rick won no less than THREE primaries, bringing his tally up to four primaries won (TPM has all the numbers). Yes, that is more than Mitt Romney, whose repeated claims of being the default nominee are becoming a bit painful. Losing five of the first eight primaries, that’s hardly the stuff of winners, is it?
In terms of hard currency Santorum’s wins don’t mean that much (not many delegates at stake in Missouri, Colorado and Minnesooota), but it sure gives him momentum. And it sure as hell destroys Mitt’s momentum, after his winning streak in Florida and Nevada. Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are becoming also-rans. Especially Gingrich showed himself to be a fair loser, and said afterwards that “this is entirely a beauty contest and has no effect at all.” Sure. That’s what we would say if we were you, Newt. But we’re not (and thank God for that).
So, up next is a caucus in Guam on the 18th (a military base in the Pacific, so no biggie) and then the heavyweights come out. Before February is over we wil see votes in Michigan and Arizona, and then early next month, just after Washington state, it’s time for the big sweep of Super Tuesday. So come March 7, we should know a bit more about who is going to challenge Obama in November. We still think it will be Romney in the end, but it goes without saying that good ol’ Rick is at least giving the Mittster a run for his hard-earned money. Way to go Rick!
